postpartum support - The Support You Need

Nurturing the mother

As your postpartum doula, I help you transition into life after bringing home your newborn. My role is to help you and your growing family navigate postpartum as smoothly as possible, as well as taking care of you and ensuring you’re getting rest.  This care is unique and catered to each family’s specific needs. I am here to take care of you! I offer emotional support by debriefing your birth story with you during your postpartum visit. I provide educational assistance to my clients by answering any questions that they have about infant care, operating breast pumps and going over guidelines for milk storage, or assisting in formula feeding if you have chosen to formula feed. I assist with light household tasks such as meal preparation, meal planning, washing dishes, laundry. I assist in helping older children acclimate to their new sibling, and can also care for the baby while mom showers or takes a nap, or run errands that need to be ran.

Daytime Support

Upon arrival we will check in with each other and chat about your questions and your goals. Each day may be different. One day mom may get a chance to eat a relaxing lunch, take a shower or nap, and others she may go out to yoga class or enjoy a day outside of the house.

Practical Support

Since your baby’s needs are 24 hours a day, let me take the night shift so that you can get a good night’s sleep! Each night will be different, and may include assisting with feeding, cleaning and swaddling, and lots of rest for mommy and daddy.

Weekend Support

Your baby doesn’t take the weekends off, and neither do I! Everyone needs a day to rest and relax, get the chores done, or just decompress, and the weekend is the perfect time!

•TWO DAYS POSTPARTUM•

The world feels softer now-slower, quieter. Two days since birth, and your body is still in the sacred in-between. The womb that held life is gently contracting back, your milk is beginning to come in, and every ache, tear, and swell tells the story of how powerfully you brought your baby earthside.

You may feel raw and tender, both physically and emotionally. The hormones are shifting, your body is learning a new rhythm, and your heart is expanding in ways you never knew possible.

Now is the time to surrender.
To rest.
To be held.

Let warm soups and teas comfort your core. Keep your socks on, stay cozy, and allow your body to stay warm (it’s rebuilding from the inside out).

You are not meant to do it all right now. You are meant to *be*. To rest, to bond, to heal.
Every moment you spend wrapped up with your baby is medicine, for both of you.
Arlo got his first adjustment this week. We had a rough start to this postpartum journey, but I am beyond thankful for every second I am getting to love on our sweet boy. I’m also thankful for our chiropractor Dale, who was able to help me when I was in immense pain this week. Both Dale and his staff prayed over me before we left and I just feel so grateful for the support we have here. @wildrootswellnesstn
